WGMS Teachers vs Students Basketball Game on 3-6-2025!

On March 6, 2025, the Wind Gap Middle School gymnasium was filled with energy, excitement, and a profound sense of community as teachers and students faced off in the Teachers vs Students basketball game. This event is always a highlight of the school year, and this year, it carried an even deeper significance.

First, this amazing event provides immeasurable support for our local community! Ticket sales benefitted the Slate Belt Junior Police Academy Program, an initiative dedicated to guiding and mentoring young students with an interest in law enforcement. Additionally, the snack stand played a vital role in fundraising, with all proceeds donated to Families First, a program committed to helping families in need within the community.

Additionally, this year’s game was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Ryan Peck, a beloved teacher and mentor who passed away unexpectedly in August of 2024. Every year, Mr. Peck would eagerly anticipate the matchup, his competitive spirit shining weeks before game day. Whether playfully teasing students or bringing his unstoppable energy to the court, he made each game unforgettable for all who participated.

To honor Mr. Peck’s legacy, a special dedication ball was presented to his family before tip-off. For every point scored during the game, $1 was donated to the Hailey and Aiden Peck College/Educational Fund, supporting the future of his beloved children.

Teachers also took to the court wearing game shirts stamped with “RP” in remembrance of their friend and colleague. This heartfelt tribute underscored how deeply Mr. Peck’s impact was felt throughout the school and community.

While the final score mattered, with the students coming out victorious this year, what stood out most was the sense of unity and purpose. The game was a testament to the lasting influence of an incredible teacher, as well as a reminder of how sports can bring people together for a greater cause.
